Back in 1985 I started to draw. I wanted to draw Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew!. At the age of 12 I would make up stories for the Zoo Crew!. In these stories I started creating my own characters. Vaser Cat was the first character I ever created.
Vaser Cat is sort of a parody of the Green Lantern. He has a power ring that gives him his powers. He can fly, an energy shield, and is able to shoot energy blasts. The ring also lets him breath in space and under water.
In the beginning, I made him to be a new member of the Zoo Crew!. When I started working on my original comics, I made him the leader of my first super team The Animalistics. As time went on, and I focused on Megamoose, I decided to change my team to a JLA parody called The Mighty Menagerie. With the new team I put Vaser Cat as the Green Lantern like guy.

Chum the Wonder Squirrel
When I first decided to do a solo Megamoose story, I wanted to give him a sidekick. What better sidekick for a moose than a squirrel. Enter Chum the Wonder Squirrel.
Chum got his name base on heroes calling their sidekicks chum and not the name for shark bait. I pretty much based him on Robin and I even based his outfit on Robin's. Chum's back story is quite interesting. He is the son of Dr. Clayton Forrestsquirrel , The creator of the Mega Steroid that gave Megamoose his powers, and a member of a hero group called the Kung Fu Squirrels. His mom disappeared in the 90s leaving his father to raise him with his maternal grandpa, a hero from the 60s known as the Shao Lin Squirrel. Chum gets his intelligence from his dad and was trained by his grandpa.

Megamoose

In 1982 , when I was young, I came across a comic book called "Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew!". I instantly fell in love with it and its artist Scott Shaw!. Scott became my inspiration for wanting to become an artist. It was my intention to someday draw the Zoo Crew!. It looked like that was never going to happen. I started to do the next best thing an d create my funny animal super heroes. I quickly learned that I was pretty good at creating them.
Megamoose was not my first creation. He came about when I was developing new characters for the Zoo Crew!. Later he became a member of a group I called The Animalistics. At one point I decided to do individual stories of each I started out with a story called Megamoose vs Death Dog. I enjoyed working with Megamoose so much that he became the character I wanted to star in his own comic.
I created Megamoose based on generic patriotic super heroes like Captain America. He is large and super strong, fast, almost indestructible, but clumsy. He is vain, a little cocky, not that bright, but has a strong sense of justice. I also based him on professional athletes like Ed McCaffrey who's willing to endorse just about anything.
